3 motivi per entrare in una Junior Enterprise

Eccoci di nuovo, caro lettore, per un altro appuntamento con il nostro Blog. Oggi ti proponiamo il pensiero di qualcuno che ammiriamo molto e che è stato di grande ispirazione, con la sua Junior Enterprise, per la crescita di JEBO.
Stiamo parlando di Giovanni Camerra, presidente uscente di una JE di cui ti abbiamo parlato nello scorso articolo: JEst. Giovanni in questo articolo ti darà ben tre buoni motivi per entrare in una di queste realtà, oltre a fornirti altri fantastici consigli!
Sono ormai passati più di tre anni e mezzo da quel 1 Giugno 2018 quando entrai ufficialmente a far parte di JEst e del mondo delle Junior Enterprise.
Tanti sono i momenti e le emozioni vissute: sacrifici, riunioni, eventi, progetti, meeting, gioie; e ognuno di questi ha segnato profondamente il mio futuro e la mia mentalitá.
Oggi, giunto purtroppo alla fine del mio percorso da Junior Entrepreneur, posso dire che è stata la più bella esperienza della mia vita e che porterò nel cuore tutte queste emozioni, tutti i progetti e soprattutto tutte le splendide persone che ho conosciuto.
In queste poche righe vorrei riportarvi un piccolo pensiero sul significato che ha per me una Junior Enterprise e darvi 3 validi motivi per cui ognuno di voi dovrebbe entrare a farne parte.
Viviamo in un mondo che, per come lo vedo io, sta diventando sempre più freddo e materiale – fatto solo di mail, messaggi, social network – dove la prima domanda che viene fatta è quanto prendi e non cosa fai; se lo stipendio poi non viene reputato abbastanza alto ti viene chiesto perché lo stai facendo.
Personalmente penso che i soldi – e quindi lo stipendio – siano sicuramente importanti per vivere ma, soprattutto alla nostra età e in generale nella vita, ci siano cose molto più importanti per noi come esseri umani. Credere e sposare il progetto o la visione dell’azienda per cui si sta lavorando, mettere passione e dedizione in ogni attività, creare rapporti umani e condividere l’amore per il proprio lavoro, vedere i partecipanti ad un evento o i propri clienti soddisfatti e felici ritengo che siano il vero motore della nostra vita e della nostra crescita e nessuno stipendio li potrà mai eguagliare.
Queste ultime righe sono la vera definizione di Junior Enterprise: un ambiente dove le persone non entrano per i soldi ma perché credono nel progetto, nella visione. Sono un posto dove i soci mettono passione e dedizione in ogni task perché hanno deciso di prendere in mano il proprio futuro, di vivere situazioni complesse e di apprendere cose che il normale percorso universitario non potrà mai insegnare. La crescita umana, più di quella professionale, dentro una Junior è qualcosa di incredibile e la cosa più bella è che dipende da quanto decidi di dedicarti e di impegnarti.
Una Junior, in sintesi, è una grande fabbrica dove le idee prendono forma perché ci sono persone motivate e mosse da obiettivi, magari anche diversi e personali, che lavorano come un gruppo unico, come una grande famiglia.
Quello che facciamo – progetti, eventi, formazioni, meeting – è solo la normale conseguenza, è il risultato della passione che i soci mettono tutti i giorni.
Come sostiene Simon Sinek nella sua definizione di Golden Circle, è il why che deve essere centrale nella nostra vita nonché motore delle nostre azioni, l´how e il what sono solo un mezzo, una conseguenza, per raggiungere il why.
Vi confesso che quando ho fatto domanda per entrare non avevo minimamente idea a cosa stessi andando incontro. Certo, avevo qualche amico all’interno ma ero molto scettico e spaventato. Non sapevo che ben presto sarebbe diventata la mia seconda pelle, una sfida quotidiana, una passione che ha accompagnato la mia vita in questi ultimi anni e che mi accompagnerà per sempre, indipendentemente da cosa riserverà per me il futuro lavorativo.
Oltre a questa visione, se volete romantica, dell’universo JE e del mio modo di vedere il mondo del lavoro, vorrei lasciarvi i 3 motivi per cui dovete assolutamente entrare in una JE.
1. L’esperienza in JE ti consente di prendere in mano e costruire il tuo futuro. Permette di metterti in gioco in situazioni che non si studiano sui libri di testo, per le quali non ci sono tutorial online ma bisogna solo viverle al 101% e affrontarle. Entrare all’interno di una JE è una scelta che va onorata e rispettata in tutti i periodi dell’anno cercando di gestire al meglio il tempo, le forze e gli impegni, sapendo equilibrare la carriera accademica, la vita privata e le attivitá all´interno della Junior. Al giorno d’oggi la multicanalità è uno dei prerequisiti per avere successo e per gestire la propria vita, poterla acquisire già durante il percorso accademico rappresenta un enorme valore aggiunto.
2. Altro aspetto è sicuramente la crescita personale intesa come maturazione tecnica e umana dell’associato. Prendendo parte a progetti, formazioni e vivendo la quotidianità della Junior si ha la possibilità di mettere in pratica e approfondire quanto studiato in aula e soprattutto di conoscere ciò che richiede in quel momento il mercato, creando un forte background intellettuale che consentirà di sostenere un colloquio o una conversazione con una marcia in più, parlando la lingua del mercato. La possibilità di fare carriera all’interno e di prendersi responsabilità come capo funzione o come membro del Board non vi assicurerà di certo di saltare la gavetta sul mondo del lavoro, ma vi farà crescere ancora di più come persone, facendovi capire come gestire una piccola-media azienda e sviluppando in voi una competenza trasversale a 360° – avendo a che fare con avvocati, commercialisti, enti pubblici e giuridici. Vi fará capire come valorizzare i vostri soci e le loro idee, come coordinarli verso una visione comune; sarete chiamati a gestire conflitti, errori, situazioni di stress ma alla fine vedrete che ne sará valsa la pensa e potrete dire ce l´ho fatta!
3. Network. Questa è forse una parola stra usata in questi ultimi anni ma è veramente la chiave di tutto. La forza delle relazioni, soprattutto se c’è anche un rapporto personale oltre a quello lavorativo, è la vera base del successo. In questo caso per “network” si intendono tutte quelle opportunità che puoi vivere attraverso e grazie alla tua Junior, alla confederazione nazionale ed internazionale. Nei meeting e negli eventi a cui partecipi puoi farti ispirare ed entrare in contatto con professionisti affermati ed ascoltare storie di successo, puoi conoscere gli Alumni della tua JE che sanno sempre darti preziosi consigli. Nei progetti puoi lavorare con studenti di tutta Europa e favorire la contaminazione e la condivisione di visioni, veri motori di crescita. Oltre a queste tipologie di relazioni vi sono quelle più profonde e che forse occuperanno per sempre un posto speciale nel cuore di ogni JEur: tutte le amicizie e tutti quei rapporti personali, che magari un giorno potranno anche trasformarsi in lavorativi (chi lo sa!), che si sono costruiti nella quotidianità della propria Junior o ai meeting, tutte quelle splendide persone che hai conosciuto e con cui hai condiviso passioni, sacrifici, gioie, dolori, aperitivi, cene e magari anche le vacanze. Anche solo per questo varrebbe la pena entrare in una JE!
Ci sarebbero tante altre cose da raccontare o momenti che ho vissuto e che porterò per sempre con me ma preferisco che alcune cose le scopriate una volta entrati in questo mondo magico.
Per i più scettici, per quelli che dicono che stai solo perdendo un sacco di tempo, posso solo dire che l’esperienza in JE non vi assicurerà al 100% una carriera o un lavoro ma metterà sicuramente un po’ di brio nelle vostre vite e vi farà vivere esperienze che vi permetteranno di aver già fatto il “riscaldamento” quando ci sarà veramente da correre nel mondo del lavoro.
Ai JEur dico di non sentirsi arrivati e che la carriera in JE è solo un trampolino di lancio, non un punto di arrivo.

3 reasons to join a Junior Enterprise
Here we are again, dear reader, for another appointment with our Blog. Today we are sharing with you the thoughts of someone we strongly admire and who has been a great source of inspiration, along with his Junior Enterprise, for JEBO’s growth.
We are talking about Giovanni Camerra, the outgoing president of a Junior Enterprise that we told you about in our previous article: JEst. In this article Giovanni will give you three good reasons why you should join one of these realities, as well as other great tips!
It has already been more than three and a half years since that 1st June 2018, the day I officially became part of JEst and of the Junior Enterprises’ world.
I could experience many different situations and emotions: sacrifices, meetings, events, projects and conferences; each of these deeply marked my future and my mentality.
Today, while sadly ending my career as a Junior Entrepreneur, I can finally say this has been the most wonderful experience in my entire life and I will keep in my heart all these emotions, all these projects and, most importantly, all the great people I met.
In the next few lines I would like to share with you a small thought about the meaning a Junior Enterprise has to me and to give you 3 valid reasons why everybody should become part of this.
As I can see, we live in a world that is becoming cruder and more detached every single day – everything now is made only of emails, text messages and social media – where the first question you are asked is always “how much do you get?” rather than “what do you do?”; moreover, if your wage is reportedly not high enough, the next question you are asked is “so why are you doing it?”.
I personally believe that money – and wage – are certainly essential to afford a living, but there are way more important things that we, as human beings, should care of – especially for people our age and generally through our entire lives. Believing in and committing to the project or the vision of the company you are working for, putting effort and dedication into every task, creating boundaries and sharing the love for your own work, seeing the participants to an event or your own clients happy and satisfied; I think these are the real driving forces which make our entire lives and our growth move, and no level of wage will ever be able to par.
These last lines are the true definition of Junior Enterprise: an environment where people don’t join for the money, but because they believe in the project, in the vision. They are a place where members put passion and dedication in every task because they have decided to take their own future in their hands, to live complex situations and to learn things that the usual academic path will never teach. More than professional growth, inside a Junior Enterprise human growth is something incredible and the best thing about it is that it depends on how much you decide to dedicate yourself and to commit to it.
A Junior, in short, is a big factory where ideas take shape because there are people motivated and moved by objectives, even if different and personal, who work as a single group, like a big family. Everything we do – projects, events, training, meetings – is just the mere consequence, it is the result of the passion that members put in every day.
As Simon Sinek says in his definition of the Golden Circle, it is the “why” that must be central in our lives and the driving force behind our actions, the “how” and the “what” are just a means, a consequence, to achieve the “why”.
I must admit that when I applied to get in I had no idea what I was getting into. Sure, I had some friends inside but still, I was pretty skeptical and scared. I didn’t know that soon it would become my second skin, a daily challenge, a passion that has accompanied my life in recent years and that will be with me forever, regardless of what the future holds for me.
In addition to this romantic vision of the JE universe and of my way of seeing the world of work, I would like to leave you three reasons why you should absolutely enter a JE.
1. The experience of being part of a JE allows you to take in hand and build your future. It allows you to put yourself at stake in situations you wouldn’t normally study in textbooks, for which there are no online tutorials; you just have to live them 101% and face them. Becoming part of a JE is a choice that must be honoured and respected at all the times of the year by trying to manage your time, your strength and your commitments, knowing how to balance your academic career, private life and activities within the Junior. Nowadays, being multichannel is one of the prerequisites for success and for managing one’s own life, so being able to acquire it during your academic career is an enormous added value.
2. Another aspect is certainly personal growth intended as technical and human maturation of the associate. By taking part in projects, trainings and by living the daily life of the Junior, one has the opportunity to put into practice and deepen what they studied in class and especially to know what the market requires at that time, thanks to the creation of a strong intellectual background that will allow to attend an interview or withstand a conversation with an extra gear, speaking the language of the market. The chance to move up the ladder internally and take on responsibilities as a Head of Function or Board member will certainly not ensure that you skip the grind on the working world, but it will make you grow even more as a person by giving you an understanding of how to run a small-to-medium sized business and by developing in you an all-round cross-functional competence – dealing with lawyers, accountants, public and legal bodies. It will show you how to value your partners and their ideas, how to coordinate them towards a common vision; you will have to manage conflicts, mistakes, stressful situations but finally you will see that it will be worth it and you will be able to say “I made it”!
3. Network. This word has perhaps been overused in recent years, but it’s really the key to everything. The strength of relationships, especially if there is also a personal relationship as well as a business one, is the real basis for success. In this case, “network” means all those opportunities that you can experience through and thanks to your Junior, the national and the international confederation. You can be inspired at the meetings and events you attend and you can get in touch with established professionals and listen to stories of success; moreover, you can meet the Alumni from your JE who always know how to give you valuable advice. In projects you can work with students from all over Europe and encourage the contamination and sharing of visions, the real driving forces of growth. In addition to these types of relationships, there are also those that are deeper and that perhaps will always occupy a special place in the heart of every JEur: all the friendships and all those personal relationships, which may one day even become work relationships (who knows!), that have been built in the daily life of the Junior or at meetings, all those wonderful people you have met and with whom you have shared passions, sacrifices, joys, sorrows, aperitifs, dinners and maybe even vacations. Even just for this reason it would be worth joining a JE!
There would be many other things to tell as well as moments I lived and that I will take with me forever, but I rather leave something for you to discover once you get to enter this magic world.
To the most skeptical, to those who say that “you are just wasting so much time” I can only say that the experience in a JE won’t 100% secure you a career or job, but it will definitely put a spin on your lives and give you experiences that will allow you to have already warmed up when it really comes to running in the working world.
I suggest the JEurs not to feel as they have made it because a career in a JE is just a stepping stone, not an end point.
